Advertiser verification has been a customary standard in Google Ads since 2022. Now, every advertiser must do this, regardless of how long they have been active. In fact, it is increasingly rare to come across an account that hasn't been verified yet.
The major objective of verification on Google Ads is to make the ad space more transparent and safer. By verifying who the advertisers are, Google will be able to weed out suspicious modes of payments, block unreliable advertisers, and link each account to real persons or business entities for easier responsibility.
First, to incentivize verification, Google rewarded verified advertisers with benefits like adding your company logo to the ad's favicon and including the business name. When the rules began to tighten, not verifying your account led to your account being suspended. Today, another added benefit of being a verified advertiser is that a "Verified Company" badge will appear next to the ads.
Following is what the badge looks like:
How to complete advertiser verification?
This whole process is rather simple. You can access the "Advertiser Verification" area of your Google Ads account and verify your identity by following the instructions.
👉 You'll need to upload a government-issued ID for verification purposes for individuals.
👉 Business: In the case of this, you will need to provide some necessary legal documents of the company, like a business registration certificate, together with an ID of the company's director or owner.
Important things to remember
Using this process, verification will only succeed if the information in your billing profile is exactly the same as the information on the documents you're presenting. Any discrepancies will translate to a failed verification. You may want to first update your billing details. That is setting up a new billing contract with Google Ads. If that sounds a bit complicated, rest assured, we can walk you through the process.
