If you need to filter out traffic from developers, office managers, or any other internal users so that their actions don’t affect your final reports in Google Analytics 4, this article is for you.
To exclude unwanted traffic by IP in Google Analytics 4, you need to follow two simple steps.
➊ Define a list of IP addresses as internal traffic:
👉 "Data streams" 🡒 "configure tag settings" 🡒 "show more" 🡒 "define internal traffic" 🡒 "Create"

👉 Add the IP addresses and save them.
Pay attention to the value of "traffic_type" - this will be the specific name of your traffic filtering set.
➋ Create a data filter:
👉 "Data settings" 🡒 "data filters" 🡒 "create filter"

👉 Fill in the name and the "traffic_type" parameter value you entered in Step 1. Select the operation and don’t forget to check ✓ the "active" box.
And that’s it! Visits from the specified IP addresses will no longer create new sessions. We hope this article has been helpful to you. Be sure to check out our future articles on GA4.
