If you’re managing ads in Google Ads and need to update or change your payment profile, you’ve probably noticed it’s not the most straightforward process. Whether it’s due to a change in your company’s leadership, an update to your VAT status, or a switch to a new legal entity, there are several reasons why you might need to adjust your billing information. This becomes particularly important when verifying advertiser information, especially if the documents you upload don’t match the billing details in your account.
Unfortunately, Google Ads doesn’t provide a simple one-click solution for changing your payment profile. Instead, it’s a process that’s a bit more involved and similar to entering into a new agreement with Google.
Steps to change your payment profile in Google Ads
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to change your payment profile:
➊ Contact Google Ads Support: First, you’ll need to reach out to their support team to kick off the process.
➋ Fill Out the Profile Change Form: The support team will send you a form to complete, which will be emailed directly to you.
➌ Confirm the Payer Change: Once you’ve submitted the form, you’ll need to confirm the change by responding to the email.
➍ Agree to the Updated Terms of Service: Google will send you new terms of service that you’ll need to accept as part of the profile change process.
➎ Add a New Payment Method: Once the profile change is approved, you can enter your new billing information and continue using Google Ads as usual.
Typically, the whole process takes about 3 to 4 business days.
* As of autumn 2024, some accounts have added the ability to change the payer service at the account level without sending emails to technical support. In screenshots, it may look like this:
