After the blocking of the Vkontakte social network in Ukraine, Instagram is rapidly gaining an audience and becoming one of the simplest and most popular social networks for promotion! Here are the top 7 essential tips you need to know before you start promoting on Instagram.
Business account and nothing else - Business Account
Before we dive into the main list, let’s clarify that a standard account isn’t suitable for promoting on Instagram. You’ll need a business account, which significantly expands your opportunities for gathering statistics, analyzing your target audience, and figuring out how to influence them. To create a business account on Instagram, you need a Facebook page for your company. By linking your Facebook page to your Instagram account, you can switch from a regular account to a business account and increase your potential customer base.
Check your name for clarity - Nickname
If you’re just starting on Instagram, take care of your account name and its simplicity right away. The shorter and simpler, the better. Try not to use more than one underscore in your name, and steer clear of dates and long words.
What have you shared about yourself? - Profile
Filling out your profile is a must for successfully promoting your business on Instagram. However, don’t duplicate your phone number. There’s a separate field for that. Once you fill it in, Instagram will make that number active.
Where are you located? - Location
If your business has a physical address, make sure to include it. If there’s no specific location for your business, use the Facebook app and the “Where are you?” option. You can name the place whatever you like. After that, head back to Instagram and finish filling out your profile by adding the location you created on Facebook.
First followers - Users
It’s been proven that an account with zero followers doesn’t get any attention from the target audience. No worries – call your friends! Starting with friends as followers is always easier and more psychologically comfortable. Don’t hesitate to ask your acquaintances to follow your business page and occasionally like its posts.
Content is king - Posting
Start creating posts. Without them, there’s no point in having an account. The frequency of posting also matters. You don’t want to flood your followers' feeds with your company’s posts, but reminding them just once a week isn’t enough either. Aim for at least one post five days a week.
Hashtags – your path to clients - #HashTag
In Instagram, hashtags are one of the key elements for successful promotion. One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is using narrow-topic hashtags. Sure, you need those, but don’t forget about so-called “general” hashtags. Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags per post. Most should be thematic or related, but some can be general. For example: the city relevant to your business; words that reflect other interests of your target audience (like “love,” “family,” “travel,” etc.).
What’s next?
This is an ongoing process of posting regularly and manually attracting followers. Make each post unique and one-of-a-kind. If there’s no resonance or creativity, it might be time to reconsider your strategy. If you’re already promoting on Instagram and feel stuck with no growth or returns, feel free to reach out.
