In the spring of 2023, Google introduced ads featuring logos in favicons and company names as part of new extensions in Google Ads Beta testing. Let’s dive a little deeper into what this is and how it works.
Here’s how the logo appears in a Google Ads ad:
The company name appears like this:
To add it, you need to use the "logo" extension. You can also add a "company name," which will appear instead of the website URL:
When adding the name or logo, the system will ask you which campaigns you want to apply this extension to:
👉 At the time of writing, this option was only available for search campaigns, which makes sense since in Performance Max or Display Network, logos and names are added at the asset or ad group level.
👉 One asset can be applied to no more than 200 ad campaigns.
👉 The company name must exactly match the name in your account.
👉 Only one version of the asset is allowed per campaign.
After selecting the campaigns, Google Ads will show which campaigns have the extension applied:
* The logo must be square-shaped (1:1), with a minimum resolution of 128x128, in PNG or JPG format. The image must occupy at least 80% of the file.
The process for adding the company name is identical. Keep in mind, this extension is still in Beta and may not be available to all accounts.
